The company is known for its stability, strong reputation in the financial services ecosystem, and ongoing investment in modernization and data-driven initiatives.
They are actively expanding their data engineering capabilities to support a mission-critical internal transformation effort tied to enterprise-level programs. This position is an opportunity to work within a high-visibility environment where engineering excellence directly impacts key business outcomes.
This is a full-time, direct-hire position, located on a hybrid basis in Bedminster, NJ, typically requiring onsite presence 1–2 days per week.
The Role You’ll Play
As a Data Engineer (Python Developer), you will design, build, and optimize scalable data solutions supporting a wide range of business needs. You’ll work closely with technical leaders to enhance existing data stores, develop API-driven services, and ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of enterprise data pipelines.
This role is central to a high-priority internal project, requiring strong Python expertise, proficiency with modern API frameworks, and advanced knowledge of SQL and database concepts. You’ll work within a fast-moving, agile environment where accuracy, ownership, and engineering rigor are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Support the ongoing build-out and improvement of enterprise data stores (Oracle, CEPH, potentially MongoDB) including data access, persistence, and performance optimization.
Apply strong knowledge of SQL tuning, indexing, stored procedures, and database internals.
Develop server-side Python applications leveraging concurrency (asyncio, multiprocessing, threading).
Utilize Numpy, Pandas, and core Python data structures to handle data transformations and internal computation workloads.
Develop and maintain APIs using REST, with strong hands-on experience in FastAPI.
Support communication frameworks including gRPC and socket-based protocols (plus).
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Git, Azure DevOps, Artifactory, and related tools.
Develop and maintain systems in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements, ensure alignment, and enhance existing data processes.
Work iteratively within a dynamic environment, balancing quality, urgency, and completion of deliverables.
Background Profile:
The ideal candidate is a strong server-side engineer with deep Python experience, strong SQL/database fundamentals, and proven ability to build API-driven systems in a Linux-based environment. Success requires technical precision, self-management, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical peers.
3–7 years of server-side development experience (degree-dependent).
Strong proficiency in Python, including intermediate-to-advanced concepts (concurrency, memory management, data structures, Numpy/Pandas).
Proficiency with Oracle PL/SQL, SQL tuning, indexes, views, stored procedures, and database optimization.
Experience developing REST APIs (FastAPI preferred).
Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, Artifactory.
Strong experience developing on RHEL; Unix shell scripting exposure.
Ability to work effectively in iterative, agile environments.
Strong communication and self-management skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Experience with gRPC or socket-based communication.
Experience with CEPH or MongoDB.
Exposure to additional programming languages (Java, C++, Rust).
Familiarity with GOF design patterns (Factory, Facade, Singleton, etc.).
