Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant – Physician Services

Location: Toms River, NJ 08753

Duration: 3 Months (with possible extension)

Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM | Monday - Friday

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for assisting in providing clinical care to patients under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner while also providing clerical support within the office. This role involves both direct patient care and administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinical operations.

• Prepare exam/treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments.

• Prepare patients for physician visits and assist during examinations.

• Record patient vital signs and update medical charts.

• Operate and maintain special medical equipment properly.

• Perform diagnostic procedures including EKG, PFT, Audiometry, and Titmus testing (after completing competency checklist).

• Conduct UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other lab tests as indicated.

• Maintain accurate patient records, reports, and files.

• Support billing/collections procedures as needed.

• Utilize computer systems for office and patient management tasks.

• Uphold confidentiality and patient privacy standards.

• Deliver patient care tailored to specific needs (age, culture, language, special conditions).

• Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and families.

• Assist with additional duties or projects as assigned.

• Adhere to organizational policies, standards, and professional behaviors.

• Ability to lift 5 lbs., push/pull 10 lbs., and stand for at least 6 hours daily.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

• Knowledge of computerized systems and data entry.

• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• Preferred Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

• Required Certifications:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support).

  • One of the following:

    • AMCA (American Medical Certification Association)

    • CMA – NHA (National Healthcareer Association)

    • CMA – NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)

    • CMA – AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)

    • RMA – AMT (American Medical Technologists)

    • RMA – NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals)

    • NCMA (National Certification Medical Association)
