Ultrasound Technologist - NJAPS #1
Location: New Jersey (07047)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts (40 hours/week)Shift Type: Day Shift Position Summary:
Seeking an experienced and certified Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging using high-frequency sound waves to identify anatomical abnormalities and support clinical diagnosis. The ideal candidate will be familiar with various ultrasound procedures, portable scanning, and assisting with guided interventions.
Key Responsibilities:Perform ultrasound procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and timeframes.
Conduct portable exams as needed and assist physicians with biopsies and advanced abdominal studies.
Set up, operate, and maintain ultrasound equipment with attention to cleanliness and calibration.
Prepare patients for procedures, explain each step, and position them appropriately for each exam.
Evaluate image quality and document findings accurately in the patient record.
Utilize scheduling and hospital systems (e.g., EMR, tracking systems) to manage workflow and documentation.
Archive and retrieve imaging data as required for reporting or follow-up.
Maintain a clean and stocked work area, including sterilizing equipment and replenishing supplies.
Instruct and support students, interns, and new staff as needed.
Provide compassionate and age-appropriate care, adjusting communication as needed for language, hearing, or cultural differences.
Participate in assigned shifts, including holidays, weekends, and on-call coverage if needed.
Adhere to organizational standards for safety, infection control, professionalism, and customer service (AIDET model).
Education:
Graduate of an approved ultrasound training program.
Minimum 2 years of Allied Health or College-level training.
Licensure/Certifications:
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer ( RDMS ) certification required.
Current CPR certification required.
Skills & Experience:
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, ultrasound imaging systems, and scanning protocols.
Experience using medical software systems and PACS.
Ability to lift 25 lbs., push/pull up to 50 lbs., and stand for extended periods.
Clear understanding of infection control, patient safety, and emergency protocols.
Must maintain CEU credits in accordance with certification requirements.
Preferred:
At least 1 year of hands-on clinical experience in ultrasound imaging.
Full-time schedule (Monday–Friday).
Must be flexible for occasional overtime and call coverage as needed.
Role requires adherence to organizational policies and professional conduct standards.
Floating may be required to similar units or departments.
