Job Description

The General Maintenance Worker position is based within our Facilities and Maintenance department, and works with departmental management to maintain a clean, safe and healthy facility and property.

Job Type: Full Time. Base Hours: 10:00AM – 6:30PM Monday through Friday

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and meet the educational and experience requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Skilled in sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and applying finishes to facility floors and other surfaces
• Vacuum rugs
• Dust lobby, workstations and other office furniture
• Able to clean all fixtures and furniture safely
• Replace liners for all garbage cans, and remove daily waste
• Capable of maintaining maintenance closets in a clean, organized and safe manner
• Able to maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Must have High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Must have at least one year in janitorial or facility maintenance experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

• Must have strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to read SDS sheets for cleaning supplies

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

• Must have initiative and problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail
• Must be organized, flexible, and able to work independently.
• Must have knowledge of modern cleaning equipment and cleaning products
• Preferred experience working within a GMP or other regulated environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

On an average 8-hour day this position requires the ability to walk, sit and stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms at or above shoulder height and below waist height, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk, hear, and smell. This position requires the ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Specific vision requirements including reading of written documents, and visual inspection of materials.
