Perinatologist (Per Diem) (Morristown)
Job Description
- Supervision of care and direct care to high risk and normal OB/GYN patients.
- Outreach consultations and visits to support hospitals.
- Development and support of continuing efforts for quality improvement for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Care to transport patients.
- Direct care to high-risk patients.
- Consultation with members of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for high-risk patients (co-management).
- Assessment of fetal status for perinatal Diagnostic Testing Center.
- Performance of variety of administrative functions by serving on committees as designated by the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and/or the Director of Maternal/Fetal Medicine.
- Teaching, supervision and evaluation of residents and students.
- Preparation and presentation of Grand Rounds and Conferences.
- The Physician shall participate in community education and scientific programs as may be delegated or assigned to the Physician by the Hospital's Chief Medical Officer.
- Market the practice through direct physician to physician communication, community education, community service or other appropriate channels.
- Provide open and timely communication with patients, families and their significant others.
- Accept and care for indigent and clinic patients in a manner consistent with compassionate and ethical patient care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current coding guidelines and requirements and maintain an error rate within Atlantic Health guidelines (currently 5% or less).
- If conducting hospital rounds, ensure accurate and timely billing for hospital services.
- Submit all bills for outpatient and inpatient work in a timely manner to the AMG billing department.
- Use and endorse the use of all of AMG's and the Hospital's automated systems, as appropriate, including the Epic electronic medical record.
- Maintain and implement standards for health promotion and health maintenance.
- Ensure that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times.
- Accept all managed care plans accepted by Atlantic Health hospitals.
- Complete required reporting (including Medicare Cost reporting) in a timely manner.
- The Physician shall participate in community education and scientific programs as may be delegated or assigned to the Physician by AMG leadership and/or the Hospital's President
- The Physician acknowledges that the Practice is part of the continuum of health care services provided by the Hospital and agrees to actively support the health care mission, goals and objectives of the Practice and the Hospital. In furtherance of the Hospital's and the Practice's quality and continuity of care goals, and to foster the exchange of information consistent with utilizing Electronic Medical Records, in rendering services to patients pursuant to this Agreement, the Physician shall refer patients to a Hospital campus and to the Practice's practitioners unless an exception described in 42 C.F.R. SS 411.354(d)(4)(iv)(B) applies, i.e ., : (i) the patient expresses a preference for a different provider/practitioner/supplier; (ii) the patient's insurer determines the provider/practitioner/supplier; or (iii) it is in the best medical interests of the patient, in the independent medical judgment of Physician, that the patient receive health care services from another provider/practitioner/supplier.
Required:
1. Bachelor's degree in Medical or related field.
2. A state license and certification to practice medicine.
3. Successful completion of a residency and internship.
4. Board certification or Board eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology with a subspecialty board certification in Maternal Fetal Medicine
