Position Overview

The Accounting Manager will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, leading and developing accounting team members, and supporting an accurate and efficient financial close and reporting environment. This position combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with team leadership and cross-functional business partnership.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, experience managing teams, and the ability to operate effectively within a large, fast-paced, and evolving organization. The Accounting Manager will help ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, maintain strong internal controls, improve accounting processes, and provide meaningful financial analysis to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting activities and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other accounting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure reporting deadlines are met.
  • Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify and communicate accounting issues, financial risks, unusual transactions, and areas requiring technical judgment to senior accounting leadership.
  • Partner closely with FP&A, Operations, Finance, and other functional teams to address accounting matters and support broader business initiatives.
  • Provide accounting guidance for routine transactions, new business initiatives, organizational changes, and evolving processes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows, strengthen controls, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Participate in accounting system enhancements, automation projects, and other finance transformation initiatives.
  • Review financial results and investigate significant fluctuations, trends, and potential reporting issues.
  • Prepare financial analyses and variance explanations supporting management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
  • Assist senior accounting leadership with financial reporting packages, management presentations, and other executive-level deliverables.
  • Support compliance with corporate accounting policies, SOX requirements, and consolidation and reporting standards within a parent/subsidiary environment.
  • Collaborate across multiple business units and entities to ensure consistency in accounting practices and financial reporting.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Senior Accountants and Staff Accountants while providing ongoing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Manage team workloads, assign responsibilities, and review work related to monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
  • Promote accountability, accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement across the accounting function.

Qualifications

  • CPA required.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Combination of public accounting and corporate/industry accounting experience strongly preferred; Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience directly managing, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience working within a large, complex, fast-paced, or high-growth organization.
  • Experience within a parent/subsidiary or multi-entity reporting structure, including corporate accounting policies, SOX controls, and consolidated reporting requirements.
  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to identify trends, variances, and potential accounting issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Operations, FP&A, and other business functions.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with a strong focus on process improvement, standardization, and operational efficiency.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Experience working with ERP and financial reporting systems; SAP S/4HANA experience is preferred. Experience with QuickBooks similar accounting and business systems is a plus.
  • Experience within industrial distribution, manufacturing, construction-related industries, or a multi-location/multi-entity organization is preferred.

Compensation

The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and work location within state.

This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.

  • Base: $135,000 - $150,000 per year plus 10%-15% Bonus
