Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe/ZOS/Storage Engineer professional to architect, manage, and maintain IBM z/OS environments and associated subsystems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mainframe technologies, storage systems, and automation tools, as well as a proven track record in performance tuning, capacity planning, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated enterprise solutions and requires strong leadership in incident management and change control processes.

Responsibilities:

• Architect, manage, and maintain IBM z/OS environments including JES2, RACF, SMP/E.
• Administer and optimize mainframe storage subsystems (DASD, tape, virtual tape systems) using DFSMS, DFHSM, and FDR/ABR.
• Architect and manage DB2 for z/OS environments including subsystem configuration, buffer pool tuning, and workload management.
• Architect and manage IBM MQ for z/OS environments including queue managers, channels, and message flows.
• Design and implement HA/DR solutions using sysplex configurations, DB2 data sharing, MQ shared queues, and coupling facilities.
• Perform performance tuning and capacity planning across DB2, MQ, z/OS, and storage subsystems.
• Optimize SQL workloads and MQ message flows.
• Automate provisioning, maintenance, and monitoring tasks using REXX, JCL, IBM System Automation, and BMC ControlM/MainView.
• Monitor system health using RMF, OMEGAMON, IBM Data Server Manager, MQ Explorer, and IBM Z Monitoring Suite.
• Ensure security, compliance, and audit readiness across all subsystems (SOX, PCI, HIPAA).
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and data governance teams to support integrated enterprise solutions.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents and implement long-term solutions.
• Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of Production Support Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
• 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work or consulting experience, training, military experience, or education.
• Deep expertise in IBM z/OS (JES2, RACF, SMP/E).
• Proficiency in DB2 for z/OS (data sharing, performance tuning).
• Experience with IBM MQ for z/OS (shared queues, coupling facility).
• Strong knowledge of mainframe storage technologies (DASD, VTS, DFSMS).
• Experience with mainframe automation, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Proficiency in JCL, REXX, and automation tools (e.g., IBM System Automation, BMC ControlM).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as RMF, OMEGAMON, IBM Data Server Manager, MQ Explorer.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
• Proven leadership in incident management and change control processes.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Pay Range: $90 - $100

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
