Location: Westfield, NJ
Pay: $22.00–$24.00 per hour (based on experience)
*$2,500 Sign-On Bonus Available (conditions apply)*
Full-Time (36–40 hours/week) | Part-Time Opportunities Available

This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys the technical aspects of surgery, anesthesia, and patient care while working alongside a supportive group of veterinarians and technicians.

What You'll Be DoingAs a Surgical Veterinary Technician, you'll play a key role in ensuring safe and efficient surgical procedures from admission through recovery.
Surgical & Patient Care Responsibilities- Prepare patients for surgery and outpatient procedures
- Obtain patient histories and perform pre-operative assessments
- Calculate medication dosages and anesthesia protocols under veterinarian supervision
- Administer medications via SQ, IM, and IV routes
- Place and maintain intravenous catheters
- Calculate and manage fluid therapy throughout procedures
- Induce, monitor, and recover patients undergoing anesthesia
- Perform intubation and extubation procedures
- Monitor ECG, capnography, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, and temperature
- Recognize changes in patient status and communicate findings promptly
- Maintain accurate anesthesia records throughout procedures
- Monitor post-operative patients and assess comfort levels
- Assist with pain management protocols
- Review discharge instructions and medications with pet owners
- Ensure accurate and complete medical record documentation
- Prepare, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Maintain surgical packs and inventory
- Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient surgery department
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians and fellow team members
- Minimum 1 year of veterinary surgical technician experience required
- Strong anesthesia monitoring skills required
- Dentistry experience preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Passion for patient safety and quality veterinary medicine
- 12-hour shifts
- Full-time or part-time opportunities available
- Weekend availability as needed
- $2,500 Sign-On Bonus (conditions apply)
