Position Overview
Are you ready to move beyond standard design and take a seat at the helm of sophisticated, high-impact building systems? We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (P.E.) to lead the charge in the design and delivery of mission-critical facilities. In this role, you aren’t just producing drawings; you are a technical visionary and team navigator, responsible for architecting complex electrical solutions for some of the most vital institutions in the country—from VA Medical Centers and research laboratories to federal courthouses and secure government facilities.
Joining our team means stepping into a nationally recognized firm that offers the intimate, collaborative dynamic of a small office coupled with the professional reach of a powerhouse. With over 35 years of experience delivering multi-million dollar projects, the firm provides a platform for seasoned engineers to build a lasting professional legacy. You will be supported by a culture that prioritizes a healthy work/life balance through flexible scheduling and an environment that prizes technical mastery and a "can-do" ethic.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Team Leadership: Plan, coordinate, and steer multi-discipline engineering teams to ensure the seamless execution of complex governmental and healthcare projects.
System Architecture: Design and integrate sophisticated building electrical systems, including high-reliability power distribution, advanced lighting, security, telecom, and emergency generator systems.
Mission-Critical Advocacy: Lead comprehensive electrical investigations and facility assessments, providing technical roadmaps for the modernization of critical federal infrastructure.
Technical Stewardship: Prepare and oversee high-fidelity technical specifications, rigorous cost estimates, and precise project schedules for major IDIQ contracts.
Digital Integration: Champion the development of construction documentation within the Revit/BIM environment, ensuring technical accuracy and multidisciplinary coordination.
Code Mastery: Apply an expert-level understanding of electrical codes and industry standards to ensure every design deliverable meets the highest safety and performance benchmarks.
Project Oversight: Manage the full project lifecycle, from initial Master Planning and Schematic Design to final Construction Administration and field surveys.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, specifically within AEC consulting or federal/institutional design.
Software Proficiency: Professional command of Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows.
Technical Expertise: Proven track record in designing power distribution and emergency systems for large-scale, complex building types.
Security: Ability to successfully complete a federal background check for security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Medium Voltage: Experience with medium voltage system design and distribution.
Sector Depth: Specific experience with VA Medical Centers or Federal Bureau of Prisons projects.
Leadership: A demonstrated history of mentoring junior staff and managing large-scale project deliverables ($5M–$100M+).
