Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accountant to manage the financial aspects of our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, job costing, and project financial management. This role involves working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting functions related to construction projects, including job costing, billing, and revenue recognition
- Prepare and review project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate billing and payments
- Reconcile subcontractor contracts, change orders, and retainage
- Monitor project costs and ensure compliance with budgets and contracts
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts related to construction activities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management
- Assist with payroll processing, including certified payroll and prevailing wage compliance if applicable
- Collaborate with project managers and field personnel to gather financial data and resolve discrepancies
- Support external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Utilize construction accounting software and ERP systems Sage 300 Construction
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Proven experience in construction accounting or job costing
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, retainage, progress billing, and contract management
- Proficiency with accounting software, especially those tailored for construction (e.g., Sage 300 Construction, Procore, QuickBooks Contractor)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and finance teams
- Knowledge of payroll processing and labor compliance a plus
