Eastern Regional Field Medical Director - Hematology/Oncology Overview
A rapidly growing biopharmaceutical organization focused on hematology and oncology is seeking a Director, Field Medical to lead a multistate medical affairs team. The company emphasizes scientific rigor, crossfunctional partnership, and improving outcomes for patients with limited treatment options.
Role Summary
The Director, Field Medical will oversee a national field medical team across five regions, with responsibility for setting strategy, managing performance, developing talent, and executing a cohesive field medical plan. This individual must be based in Florida and will partner closely across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and other internal groups to support scientific engagement and clinical trial activities.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of field medical professionals; establish goals and manage performance.
- Build and monitor KPIs; provide regular updates to senior leadership.
- Ensure strict adherence to compliance standards, regulatory expectations, and internal SOPs.
- Communicate the strategic value of Field Medical across internal stakeholders.
- Develop a national field medical strategy and guide territorylevel planning and execution.
- Support scientific engagement activities with healthcare professionals and external experts.
- Oversee development and approval of resources that enable proactive and reactive scientific exchange.
- Drive generation of field insights and ensure they are shared and acted upon across the organization.
- Collaborate with Clinical Development and Medical Affairs to support trial site engagement and datarelated initiatives.
- Foster team development through individual development plans and bestpractice sharing across regions.
- Promote effective, compliant crossfunctional partnership.
- Advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD, MD/DO).
- 7+ years of field medical experience in hematology and/or oncology, including 2+ years in a team leadership role.
- Demonstrated success managing highperforming field teams and achieving qualitative and quantitative objectives.
- Strong experience with both proactive and reactive field medical initiatives.
- Deep understanding of the community oncology landscape.
- Proven ability to collaborate with external KOLs and manage complex, multistakeholder projects.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex science into clear business context.
- Ability to travel approximately 50%.
- Preferred: experience supporting product launches.
Expected salary range: $235,000-$265,000 , depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic considerations.
