Senior Director of Software Engineering

As a Senior Executive Director of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Treasury/CIO technology team, you will lead our efforts to promote the strategic vision, architecture, and delivery of mission-critical trading platforms supporting Treasury and CIO business functions.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a high-performing team of software engineers, architects, and technical leads responsible for the design, development, and support of Treasury/CIO trade execution systems
- Define and execute the technology strategy for trade execution, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of complex projects, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and post-production support
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team
- Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, and other technology teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and high-performance trading solutions
- Partner with quant, trading, and risk stakeholders to enable AI-based decision-making capabilities for trading and execution, ensuring explainability, governance, model validation, and regulatory compliance
- Ensure robust risk management, security, and compliance practices are embedded in all technology solutions
- Establish AI-based platform and application health monitoring using intelligent observability, anomaly detection, predictive alerting, incident correlation, and automated root-cause analysis to improve resiliency, and strengthen operational excellence for trading systems
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including Agile methodologies, DevOps, cloud technologies, and automation
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, providing guidance on career growth, technical skills, and leadership capabilities
Required qualifications, skills, and capabilities:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large, distributed teams
- Proven track record of delivering complex trading or financial systems in a global banking environment
- Expertise in modern programming languages (Java, Python, C++), distributed systems, cloud platforms, and microservices architecture
- Strong knowledge of risk, compliance, and regulatory requirements impacting trading technology
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills
- Ability to influence and drive change across technology and business teams
Preferred qualifications, skills, and capabilities:
- Deep understanding of Treasury and CIO business functions, trade execution workflows, and financial markets
