Lathe Operator

This position focuses on precision machining, turning raw materials into accurate, high-quality components. It requires strong technical skills, the ability to interpret detailed specifications, and a commitment to maintaining safety and efficiency throughout the production process.

• Review work orders and blueprints via shop computer.
• Record job hours and scan badge for time tracking.
• Perform light CNC programming, set up tooling, and adjust machine settings.
• Operate CNC and manual lathes to fabricate precision parts.
• Load raw materials and conduct test runs for accuracy.
• Inspect parts to ensure quality standards.
• Maintain and clean equipment and work area.
• Report defective materials or equipment issues.

• Technical school accreditation or skilled trades program and/or 2–4 years of experience operating CNC mills, lathes, and manual machines.
• Solid understanding of machining processes and techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and blueprints.
• Strong communication skills to understand assignments in electronic, written, or verbal form.
• Attention to detail with knowledge of machinery operation and maintenance.
• Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting equipment issues.

• Ability to program a machine is not a requirement but it is a significant plus.
• Ability to stand for extended periods; occasional walking.
• Frequent use of hand and finger dexterity.
• Occasional bending, stooping, or kneeling.
• Strong verbal communication and hearing ability.
• Visual acuity for operating equipment, reading technical data, and using shop computers.
• Ability to safely lift, push, or carry items over 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working near moving mechanical parts.
• Tolerance for exposure to fumes (e.g., mineral spirits, cleaning solutions).
• Ability to work in environments with loud noise (e.g., machine operations).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marlboro, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
