Head of International Supply Chain
Job Description
Job Description
Head of International Supply Chain
Fort Lee, NJ - In Person
$200K–$300K (BOE)
Company Overview
- We're a fast-growing U.S.-based importer and distributor of high-demand manufactured products. With a commitment to operational excellence, we partner with overseas suppliers to bring top-quality goods to the North American market. We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Overseas Purchasing to lead and expand our global sourcing function.
Position Overview
- This is a senior role managing all aspects of overseas purchasing—including product knowledge, supplier relations, forecasting, quality control, and logistics. You'll drive vendor diversification, manage critical timelines, and ensure that our production pipeline supports business growth. Experience with overseas sourcing, understanding technical product specifications, and navigating multi-factory operations is a must.
The Ideal Candidate
- You're a proactive operator with deep experience in global sourcing—especially from Asia. You're not just a deal-maker; you're a systems thinker who can optimize vendor networks, read technical specs, and spot risks before they disrupt production. You balance strategic oversight with hands-on problem-solving and can communicate clearly across cultures and teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn product lines, construction methods, and technical specs quickly
- Read and interpret CAD drawings and product documentation
- Source and vet new overseas factories (Vietnam, China, others)
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and production capacity
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and a diversified supply network
- Create and manage 6–12 month product forecasts
- Coordinate production flow, container schedules, and factory lead times
- Ensure product quality via third-party or in-house inspections
- Troubleshoot delays, solve scheduling conflicts, and fast-track when needed
- Collaborate closely with sales and operations to ensure aligned execution
Qualifications
- 7+ years in overseas purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain leadership
- Deep knowledge of product manufacturing and international trade
- Ability to read CAD or engineering drawings
- Experience working with vendors in China, Vietnam, or similar markets
- Strong negotiation, forecasting, and planning skills
- Experience managing multi-factory logistics and vendor performance
- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership
Must-Haves
- Experience sourcing and managing overseas vendor relationships
- Ability to read and understand product drawings and specifications
- Proven success in forecasting and production planning
- Track record of solving overseas quality and scheduling issues
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Benefits
- Highly competitive salary + bonus potential
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) plan with employer match
- Generous PTO and holiday schedule
- High-impact leadership role with visibility and autonomy
If you're ready to own overseas purchasing for a high-growth company—and make a real impact on global operations—this could be your next big move.
