Job Overview:
The Director of Purchasing is accountable for providing overall leadership strategic direction and operational oversight of the Purchasing function across the enterprise.
This role leads complex high impact initiatives with significant operational financial and system interdependencies ensuring alignment with organizational goals policies and regulatory requirements.
The Director builds and sustains strong cross functional relationships and regularly engages with senior leadership using influence sound judgment and data driven insights to guide decision making and drive results.
This role is responsible for establishing, monitoring and enforcing performance standards key performance indicators and quality measures related to productivity accuracy timeliness cost effectiveness and compliance.
**Please Note: This is a Hybrid Role - 3 days in office, 2 remote. **
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree required,
Minimum of eight years of progressive purchasing experience including at least four years in a healthcare or integrated delivery network environment preferred with demonstrated experience leading complex initiatives and working across multiple functional areas.
A minimum of five years of people management experience is required with direct accountability for hiring retention performance management coaching counseling and professional development of staff.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Essential Function:
Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Purchasing function with direct accountability for the successful execution of enterprise wide initiatives and projects involving significant operational financial and system interdependencies.
Lead planning prioritization execution and change management efforts to ensure outcomes are achieved on time within scope and in alignment with organizational objectives.
Key Competencies
Direct and manage daily purchasing operations with full accountability for people leadership including hiring onboarding performance management coaching counseling retention strategies succession planning and staff development.
Establish clear expectations foster accountability and build a high performing engaged team capable of meeting current and future organizational needs.
Build and sustain strong cross functional partnerships across clinical financial operational and technology teams.
Serve as a key liaison to senior leaders by presenting complex information clearly influencing outcomes resolving issues and navigating competing priorities to support enterprise purchasing objectives and continuity of operations.
Serve as the subject matter expert for ERP MMIS systems PeopleSoft preferred and purchasing related technologies leading system optimization automation initiatives process improvements reporting enhancements and golive project implementation activities.
Lead vendor and stakeholder engagement including supplier performance management issue resolution contract collaboration financial coordination and customer service escalation while supporting budget management continuity planning and enterprise purchasing objectives.
