The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:
The Medical Technologist performs clinical laboratory testing according to established policies and procedures.
The Medical Technologist reports all tests promptly, accurately, and efficiently to the patient's caregivers in order to assist with diagnosis and treatment, and maintains quality assurance and quality control policies and procedures to ensure validity of test results.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology or otherwise meets the requirements of NJ 8 44-2, 6 a-c
- Minimum of one year of pertinent full-time laboratory experience and/or training in the specialties or subspecialties in which the individual will perform tests NJ 8 44-2, 6c
Preferred:
- Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent
Scheduling Requirements:
- Per Diem (PD)
Essential Functions:
- Performs testing in all areas of the clinical laboratory including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology and urinalysis
- Utilizes computer systems to communicate results
- Communicates results by phone as necessary
- Performs quality control to ensure all testing is accurate and precise
- Performs basic maintenance and repairs on analyzers and instruments as necessary
- Reports up issues to supervisors as necessary
- Reports all tests promptly, accurately, and efficiently to the patient's caregivers in order to assist with diagnosis and treatment
- Maintains quality assurance and quality control policies and procedures to ensure validity of test results
- Utilizes critical thinking skills to solve problems, evaluate aberrant patient results and recognize factors that may affect measurements and results
- Consistently follows all required laboratory safety and chemical hygiene plans to ensure a safe working environment
- Works effectively as a team member within the department to provide quality service through communication, collaboration, and cooperation
