Job Summary
We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Payroll Assistant. You will be responsible for processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees, managing wage garnishments, and ensuring accurate benefits deductions. This role conducts payroll audits to maintain data integrity, prepares property payroll transfer reports, and provides accounting support to the leadership team.
Job Description
- Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
- Accurately enter and pay all wage garnishments on time.
- Verify and update benefits deductions.
- Prepare and process property payroll transfer reports.
- Conduct payroll audits to maintain accuracy and data integrity.
- Review and analyze retroactive pay calculations.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2s, reconciliations, and reports.
- Assist leadership with payroll and accounting-related projects.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries.
Skills Required
- Minimum 2+ year of timekeeping and payroll processing experience (i.e. Garnishments, taxes and Year End activities).
- For timekeeping-specific skills, we look for:
- The ability to calculate time
- The ability to convert time from fractions/decimals to minutes and vice versa
- Calculating adjustments to pay (additions or reductions)
- Understanding of different earnings, deductions etc.
- Union contract knowledge/experience
- Experience with managing time for over 1000 employees
- Updating employee information regarding attendance/leave
- Analytical skills related to retro calculations of pay and time required as the ability to work with multiple systems simultaneously.
- Intermediate advance skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with QuickBooks and PayChoice or Payroll Associates is preferred.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Shift Ti me: 8am - 4pm
Pay Rate
- Up to $33.00 per hour depending on experience
