Salary: $70,000-90,000 dependent on experience

Summary:

UNEX Manufacturing, a family-owned manufacturing company with a long record of success, currently has an opening for a Continuous Improvement Engineer at our Lakewood, NJ location.

This position is primarily responsible for being the change agent for the implementation of lean principles within the organization.

Reports To: Vice President of Operations

Key Responsibilities:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following; however additional duties may be assigned as dictated by business need:

• Lead initiatives to improve process quality and efficiency
• Review and update procedures and work instructions to ensure ISO 9001 compliance
• Conduct internal audits and document findings to verify ISO 9001 compliance and document audit results: partner with management to develop corrective action plans
• Educate Unex team members in application of lean tools to eliminate waste, such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Poka yoke, Process Leveling, Inventory management, Standard Work etc.
• Foster the lean culture by planning and leading Kaizen events that align with company quality objectives
• Analyze quality data metrics to identify root causes and opportunities for improvement on the factory floor

Basic Qualifications:

Education and/or experience:

• Bachelors degree (B.S.) in Engineering from four-year college or university; or 5 years related experience

• Manufacturing Engineering degree or similar from four-year college or university
• 3-5 years related experience
• A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Professional Skills/Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of implementing lean manufacturing principles with a continuous improvement mindset
• Understanding of blueprint, layouts and tolerancing methods
• Technical writing skills
• Measuring equipment such as calipers, tape measures, load cells
• Bonus points if you have Spanish speaking skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Lean manufacturing credentials

Computer Skills:

• Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Teams
• CAD/CAM software SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Simulation software
• ERP/MRP software

Physical Demands:

This role requires a combination of sitting, standing, walking, stooping and kneeling as well as the occasional need to move or lift objects up to 50 pounds. Good vision, including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, is important to perform the essential duties of this job.

Work Environment:

While its very quiet in the office environment, visits to the factory may require hearing protection and safety glasses
