Senior Structural Engineer | South Plainfield, NJ

$120,000 to $140,000 + Bonuses

Own structural engineering scope from early-stage concept development through issued-for-construction (IFC) packages, including ongoing support to fabrication and field execution. Deliver structural design and calculations for steel and reinforced concrete systems supporting pipe racks, equipment, turbine foundations, elevated platforms, blast-resistant structures, and modular skid assemblies. Perform advanced analysis using STAAD Pro and comparable FEA tools to evaluate static, dynamic, seismic, and wind loading in alignment with ASCE and project-specific criteria. Execute designs in accordance with AISC Steel Construction Manual, ASCE 7, AWS D1.1, and applicable building codes.

Drive coordination across mechanical, process, piping, and electrical disciplines to resolve load paths, anchorage, embedments, and equipment interface conditions. Review fabrication drawings for compliance with design intent, welding procedures, and tolerance requirements. Provide technical oversight on welding standards, WPS/PQR documentation, bolted connections, and non-destructive testing protocols (UT, MT, PT, RT). Support construction-phase execution through RFI responses, field changes, site walks, and structural inspections. Contribute to internal standards, calculation methodologies, design templates, and QA/QC processes.

Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required. Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required. Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience in industrial or mission-critical environments. Experience within EPC firms or OEMs supporting power generation, LNG, downstream petroleum, industrial gas, or nuclear infrastructure. Proficiency in STAAD Pro required; experience with ANSYS and LS-DYNA preferred. Strong command of AISC, ASCE, AWS, IBC, and related design codes. Working knowledge of fabrication practices, shop drawing review, welding standards, and NDT methods. Experience with modularization, heavy equipment foundations, dynamic loading, and constructability considerations preferred.
