Job Title: Manager (Coordinator), Hurricane Melissa Relief & Recovery

Reports To : Executive Director Location: Kingston, Jamaica (with travel to affected communities as required)

Contract Type: 1 year fixed-term (renewable based on funding and performance)

Position Overview

The Manager, Hurricane Melissa Relief & Recovery will provide strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight of all relief and recovery initiatives in response to Hurricane Melissa. This role will ensure that programs are effectively implemented, funds are responsibly managed, and partnerships are leveraged to deliver high-impact results for affected communities.

The successful candidate will work closely with local partners, government agencies, donors, and community organizations to guide our clients efforts across its four recovery pillars: Adopt-A-School, Adopt-A-Clinic, Adopt-A-Village, and Restore Livelihoods in Farming.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight

• Lead the overall design, coordination, and execution of Hurricane Melissa relief and recovery strategy.
• Develop implementation plans and set measurable goals aligned with the organizations mission and donor expectations.
• Ensure integration of sustainability and community resilience in all program components.

Partnership Management

• Coordinate with implementing partners (e.g., GEM, Food for the Poor, Breds Foundation, community-based organizations, and relevant ministries).
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international stakeholders, including corporate and diaspora donors.
• Participate in coordination meetings with government agencies and disaster management bodies (e.g., ODPEM, BEOC).

Financial Oversight & Accountability

• Oversee the disbursement of recovery funds and ensure proper use, documentation, and reporting.
• Work with the Finance and Grants teams to track budgets, review partner financial reports, and maintain compliance with donor requirements.
• Ensure transparency and adherence to ethical grant-making and procurement standards.

Donor & Public Engagement

• Support the Executive Director in engaging major donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
• Coordinate communications, success stories, and impact reports for donors and stakeholders.
• Represent publicly at meetings, events, and media engagements related to the recovery effort.

Team Leadership & Coordination

• Supervise the Relief Coordinator and any support or communications staff assigned to the Hurricane Melissa portfolio.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure quality and timely program delivery.
• Foster collaboration, problem-solving, and accountability across the recovery team.
