Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Assistant Director of Patient Care for Post Coronary Care at the New Brunswick campus.

5 Tower is a 31-bed telemetry unit. Nursing care is provided to adult cardiac and acute care medical surgical patients ages 18 years through the lifespan. Patients cared for on this unit include but are not limited to post cardiac catheterization, post device placement, heart failure, and management and care of adult cystic fibrosis. Patient care includes frequent physical assessments, post operative care, administration of blood products, dressing changes, chest physiotherapy, and selected respiratory treatments.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BSN required
  • At least 3 – 5 years of nursing experience required
  • Experience in Med Surg and/or Telemetry required

Preferred:

  • MSN highly preferred
  • Previous experience as a nursing director is preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements :

  • Night Shift, 40 hours per week
  • Please note the hours of this position are 7:00 pm - 7:30 am with an additional 8 hours of office time bi-weekly.

Essential Functions:

  • Managing a team of nurses and support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating performance,
  • Providing guidance and support to improve nursing practice and morale,
  • Ensuring that necessary resources, such as equipment, supplies, and staffing levels, are available to provide safe and effective patient care,
  • Manage department budgets, ensure cost-effective care delivery, and optimize the use of resources within the organization,
  • Monitoring patient outcomes and implementing quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of care,
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and safety protocols,
  • Creating and enforcing policies and procedures to ensure consistent and high-quality nursing care,
  • Addressing concerns from patients, families, and staff, and resolving conflicts in a timely and professional manner,
  • Encourage ongoing education and training for nursing staff to enhance skills and foster a culture of professional development,
  • Contribute to long-term planning for the unit or facility, including the implementation of new technologies processes, or services to improve patient care and operational efficiency,
  • Provides leadership and direction in order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the unit/organization.
  • Effectively communicates information to staff, utilizes resources and manages staff and services.
  • Assists the Director with the daily operations of the unit and delegated responsibilities.
  • Will be assigned 50 percent of patient care responsibilities.
  • Collaboratively prepares and maintains staff schedule and payroll.
  • Effectively collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and drives through-out staff accountability.
