Fleet Mechanic

The Class B Diesel Mechanic plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet and equipment. This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing diesel vehicles and equipment, and supporting the Maintenance & Equipment team to keep operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair assigned vehicles and equipment, including heavy machinery
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and address identified issues promptly
• Utilize vehicle computer electronics to interpret failure modes and initiate necessary repairs
• Estimate time and material costs for repairs and requisition new parts as needed
• Communicate equipment status and repair progress to the Maintenance & Equipment team and other departments
• Assist, guide, and direct other Maintenance & Equipment personnel as required
• Respond to emergency service calls for machine deficiencies
• Conduct daily inspections and safety checks on vehicles
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
• Support the Maintenance & Equipment Manager and team as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of mechanic experience
• Strong technical and computer skills, including experience with maintenance software programs
• Proficient in operating tools required for repairs
• Ability to diagnose and repair various heavy machinery
• Ability to lift and move over 25 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver license
