Tool & Die Machinist

Rahway, NJ

Pay: $30-35/HR

Shift: M-F, 7AM to 3PM

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years of machinist experience in a mechanical or industrial manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience using machine shop tools and equipment.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical diagrams, and written procedures.
• Experience with designing and building manufacturing tooling preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review customer drawings and specifications to ensure production methods achieve desired tolerances and quality standards.
• Set up production jobs in a timely manner to meet customer delivery expectations.
• Design and fabricate tooling for punch presses, including dies, pin holders, and mandrel holders.
• Build and set up tooling for end formers, speed lathes, and wire bending fixtures (e.g., grippers, pins, forming tools).
• Collaborate with operators and maintenance teams to standardize and streamline equipment setup procedures.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities for consumables and tooling components.
• Gather feedback from machine operators to improve tool and fixture designs.
• Recommend updates to work instructions and visual aids to ensure compliance with part specifications.
• Partner with quality and production teams to investigate non-conformances, scrap, and customer complaints.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) on manufacturing equipment and propose schedule improvements.
• Diagnose and repair equipment/tooling issues, coordinating with external vendors or contractors when needed.
• Source replacement parts and components for repairs.
