Manufacturing Quality Assurance Engineer — Root Cause & Risk Tools

USA Wood Doors/Forte Opening Solutions blends craftsmanship and technology to deliver high-performing openings. We’re seeking a Manufacturing Quality Assurance Engineer to own root cause analysis, risk-based tools, and documentation that move the needle on FPY and CoQ.

What You’ll Lead

• Partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales to improve documented processes, work instructions, and verification methods.
• End-to-end Root Cause Analysis: spotting trends, investigating causes, coordinating sustainable corrective actions, and maintaining RCA documentation.
• Operator engagement in the QMS using change management techniques during transitions.
• Creation and updates to Control Plans, FMEAs, and other risk-based process tools.
• Data collection with Operations to support conformance, trend analysis, and decision-making.
• Document control for new and revised quality documentation.
• Participation and leadership in improvement projects targeting FPY/CoQ.
• Subject-matter leadership for Layered Process Audits (LPA), First Article Inspections (FAI), and related sustainability processes.
• Defining measurable personal goals aligned with site Safety, Quality, and Production targets.
• Clear, consistent verbal and written communication with all stakeholders, including customers.

What You Bring

• 5–7 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Process and/or project management education or hands-on experience.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or ability to obtain within 18 months.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Customer-facing experience addressing quality concerns.
• Self-starter who works with minimal supervision and collaborates effectively.
• Negotiation strength with a drive to remove barriers and advocate for production teams.
• Availability to support all shifts and provide active, on-the-floor leadership.
• Deep knowledge of inspection and auditing processes (highly desired).
• QMS documentation fluency: Work Instructions/SOPs, LPA, FAI, Process Flow, Control Plan, FMEA.
• Proficiency in qualitative/quantitative analysis and problem-solving methods (8D, CAR, 5 Why, Fishbone), plus core QA concepts.
• Flexibility for extended hours as project workloads require.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor level to an inspection station.
• Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Email, Visio; Windows applications).
