Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Summer Camp Program Director to join our team and work under our Programs Department Manager to plan, coordinate, and manage all camp (IDD & Non-IDD) programs. Successful Summer Camp Directors will plan, coordinate and manage all camp program, approve all camp activities, and assist in hiring camp staff. The camp director is responsible for communicating with all parents, guardians, counselors, and camp staff prior to, during and after the summer camp.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the daily operation of the summer day camp and manage the overall health, safety, welfare, and enjoyment of the participants.
- Develops, in conjunction with the Program Manager, camp policies and procedure.
- Working in tandem with lead camp counselors to organize participants for daily activities.
- Coordinates ALL camp activities and curriculum construction and approval process.
- Manage, train, and develop all camp staff, interns, and transportation activities.
- Plans and conducts camp staff training and facilitate ongoing meetings and necessary trainings to keep staff informed.
- Monitors camp staff timesheets and completes payroll for summer camp staff.
- Reports directly to and perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Project management skills.
- Leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience and/or knowledge working with the IDD population.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Staff/labor management skills.
- Time/Labor – Scheduling & time keeping.
Role Schedule:
- Training Schedule: Monday through Friday from 09:00am to 05:00pm
- Regular Schedule: Monday through Friday from 08:00am to 05:00pm
- Orientation Schedule: - Once a week orientation from 05:00pm to 07:00pm
Working environment & Physical Demand:
- Working in a fast-paced, high energy, family-oriented atmosphere.
- Will need to be able to lift at least 50lb.
- Must be able to stay active through the day and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to sit and type for long periods of time.
- Must be able to sit and look at a computer screen for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work outside for community activities and trips.
Required Education and Experience
- Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis - Required.
- Experience creating & implementing curriculum activities – Required.
- Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician – Preferred.
- Experience working with the Developmentally Disabled Population – Required.
- Supervisory experience – Required.
- Experience running a summer camp – Required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, applied behavior analysis or related field – Proffered.
