The YPIE programs are focused on preparing students with the academic and life skills needed for college success. The more ready students are for college, the higher the likelihood they’ll succeed. YPIE is seeking an After School Instructor with teaching certification to help students learn key academic math, and ELA skills that will prepare them for college success. This part time role will be based in Jersey City, NJ.

Afterschool Instruction (approx 3:00 - 6:00 pm)

• Teach/tutor afterschool in the following areas:
  • Academic Teaching: Plan and execute daily academic lessons and tutoring sessions to ensure students improve their academic skills in core subject areas, focusing on math and/or ELA.
  • Career Major: Support one or more career-pathway programs such as finance, healthcare, or debate (“YPIE Majors”) with the goal of each student submitting to an external competition or partnership.
  • Additional Instruction: Plan and execute life skills lessons, special events, electives, team building activities, and additional interventions.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for consideration:

• Must hold a NJ teaching certification, with preference given to secondary education speciality in ELA and mathematics.
• Experience with and commitment to ensuring equity for a diverse population of students
• Proven organizational and program tracking skills

JOB DETAILS

This position is based in-person in Jersey City, NJ. The position is part-time (12 hours weekly) for 32 weeks of the year (October - June), with possible opportunity to work in July and August. Per session rate is $50 per hour for certified teachers.
