Nurse Practitioner
A Nurse Practitioner role is now available through Adecco Healthcare and Life Science. In this position, you will be responsible for providing primary clinical care services, using a holistic framework, to a diverse and vibrant student body. Reporting to the Student Health Services director, this individual will serve as an integral member of the clinical team. The Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse, licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey, and certified as an advanced practice nurse with prescription privileges, able to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
Location: Newark, NJ
Job duration: Minimum 4-month temp/contract role (maternity coverage)
Shift: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Salary: $60.00-80.00/hr. - depending on your level of experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct patient care- Hours 9-5, Monday- Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Mostly in-person visits some telehealth visits. We use Medicat EMR which they will be trained and oriented in. We are a small office so candidate must feel comfortable triaging own patients, when necessary, occasional front desk work of answering phones and scheduling/ checking in patients when we are short staffed. Must be comfortable with gyn care, LGBT care and basic mental health care in addition to primary care. Our patient population is mostly 18-35 years old. There might be times when the candidate will administer their own injections and vaccines, as well as POC testing/ ekg.
Immunization compliance- During the summer Student Health Services are charged with ensuring all incoming students are compliant with the university vaccination requirements. Every member of team helps answer student questions whether in person, via phone, email or immunization portal. There is also daily review of all inputted data from the students and feedback on their compliance in our immunization portal.
Events/ outreach- As part of the division of Student Affairs, we frequently participate in outreach events promoting our services at Student Health. Events could be tabling events, vaccination drives, or informational events. The candidate may be needed to represent SHS at these events.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree with a major in Nursing in a program designed to teach the delivery of primary health care: plus completion of graduate level credit course in pharmacology from a school accredited by any national accrediting agency or if graduated more than five (5) years previously, thirty hours of continuing professional education in pharmacology, either option must meet the approval of the N.J. Board of Nursing.
Registered nurse in New Jersey with no restrictions.
ACLS/ BLS certified.
Certification in specialty area at highest level.
One year of experience in primary health care delivery preferred. Will consider a new graduate of a nurse practitioner program who has previous nursing experience, pending successful certification by examination.
Ability to understand and communicate in the English language. Ability to understand and write in medico-legal technical language.
Ability to physically assist clients as necessary as this may entail lifting clients, pushing wheelchairs, etc.
Ability to cope with interruptions, multiple tasks, and stress of dealing with multiple clients.
