Accounting Assistant – (Emphasis on Accounts Receivable)

Summary
The Accounting Assistant’s primary responsibility is managing billing and collections for goods and services provided to clients.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting software programs.

- Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.

- Organizational skills: Must be able to easily access and store many types of information on a daily basis.
- Confidentiality: handles confidential and sensitive information that must not be shared with others.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
- Create invoices according to company practices; submits invoices to customers.
- Perform cash management duties to include bank deposits, posting of entries and bank reconciliations.
- Drafts correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections, identifies delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contacts delinquent accountholders to request payment.
- Create reports regarding the current status of customer accounts as requested.
- Research customer discrepancies and past-due amounts with the assistance of other colleagues and CFO.
- Assists in generating monthly billing statements based on the general ledger.
- Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts receivable as needed.
- Relays changes of information to appropriate team members.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or two years of related experience required.
- Proven ability for great attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Especially Excel).
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Must be able to work together with various departments.
- Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management.
