Job Title: Event Porter – Part Time

Organization: G&A Museum Operations Mantua LLC operating at the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum of Rowan University in Mantua Township, NJ

Position Overview: The Event Porter at Edelman Fossil Park & Museum plays a vital role in ensuring that our museum and park remain pristine and welcoming for all event visitors. In this part-time position, you will provide cleaning services before, during, and after museum events. This role is ideal for someone with cleaning experience, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to creating a positive visitor experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Event Cleaning Support:

• In accordance with established cleaning standard operating procedures, provide all cleaning services in advance of, during, and after all assigned events at the Museum.
• Service events hosted within the museum proper as well as events hosted at exterior locations such as the Fossil Field Station.

1. Facility Standards:

• Maintain all assigned areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Ensure restrooms remain properly stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Respond to requests for spill cleanup or other immediate cleaning needs.

1. Guest Interaction:

• Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
• Ensure all interactions with guests are cordial and helpful.
• Minimize interference with guest enjoyment while performing assigned duties.

1. Additional Duties:

• May be assigned to assist with public area cleaning activities on days of high attendance on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in general cleaning, custodial, or event support roles. Experience in a museum, park, nature center, zoo, or similar environment is a plus.
• Familiarity with basic cleaning procedures and equipment. Experience with specialized equipment such as floor machines is a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, and supervisors.
• Ability to read and follow written cleaning procedures, safety instructions, and product labels.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems as they arise.
• Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• A dedication to the museum’s educational mission.

Work Setting:

• Museum headquarters is in the lower level of the stunning new Edelman Fossil Park Museum. The headquarters suite features a reception area, private offices, a large open office area, three conference rooms, a kitchenette, team lounge, and outdoor patio, situated by a 4-acre lake. The Event Porter is based out of the Engineering Office immediately adjacent to headquarters.
• This is a part-time position with G&A Museum Operations Mantua LLC, based at the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum, in Mantua Township, NJ.
• The role requires evening and weekend work schedules.
• The role may require work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• The role requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods, and to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
