Mechanical Design Engineering Director
Our client is seeking a seasoned Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead the design and development team in creating next-generation server solutions. Candidate must have over 10 years of expertise in mechanical and structural design, specifically within electro-mechanical systems. - Lead and inspire a high-performing mechanical engineering team through the full product lifecycle - from whiteboard concept to production at scale.
- Own system architecture, design reviews, prototyping, validation, and production implementation for server and rack-level systems.
- Drive seamless cross-functional collaboration with electrical, thermal, firmware, and manufacturing teams to deliver cohesive, market-ready products.
- Serve as a trusted technical voice with customers and suppliers, translating complex requirements into elegant mechanical solutions.
- Manage competing priorities across multiple concurrent programs - balancing cost, performance, quality, and time-to-market without compromise.
- Build a culture of engineering excellence through mentorship, career development, and a relentless commitment to innovation.
- Champion advances in mechanical design, materials science, and high-volume manufacturing processes
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required; M.S. strongly preferred.
- 15+ years in mechanical and structural design, with a strong focus on electro-mechanical systems; 5+ years in engineering leadership delivering complex, production-ready systems.
- Proven expertise in data center environments - including thermal management, structural design, vibration control, and high-volume manufacturing (sheet metal, injection molding).
- strong grasp of how mechanical design interplays with electrical, thermal, power, firmware, and networking systems.
- Hands-on experience with CAD platforms (Pro-E/Creo, AutoCAD), FEA tools, and thermal simulation software (Flotherm, Ansys preferred).
- A track record of inspiring teams, communicating with executives, and delivering results in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
