Compensation: $34.88/hour

Contractor Work Model: Onsite

Hours: Monday through Friday (830AM to 5PM)

ASSISTANT ENGINEER

SUMMARY:


The Assistant Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support to Project Managers within the department. This role will support bus and vehicle rolling stock procurements, perform vehicle inspections, and assist with administrative and documentation needs. The position will also support smaller equipment reliability programs, as required.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide technical support to Project Managers on vehicle and equipment-related projects
• Assist with bus and vehicle rolling stock procurements, including documentation review and technical data support
• Participate in and document vehicle inspections, testing, and acceptance activities
• Support equipment reliability programs, including tracking issues, corrective actions, and performance data
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of engineering files, reports, schedules, and compliance documentation
• Coordinate with vendors, maintenance teams, and internal departments as needed
• Perform general administrative and data support related to engineering projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Exposure to transit vehicles, fleet operations, or transportation equipment
• Experience supporting inspections, maintenance, or reliability programs
• Strong written and verbal communication skill
• Hands-on engineering experience and/or job-related internship experience
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
