The Role

We're seeking a Lead Python Software Engineer to spearhead development of our next-generation platform—a greenfield product with strategic visibility and massive impact.

You’ll lead technical design, mentor engineers, and partner cross-functionally to turn high-level ideas into scalable, secure, and user-friendly systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who thrives in ambiguity, loves solving hard problems, and has a track record of bringing 0→1 products to life.

What You’ll Do

• Lead architecture and technical strategy for a new, cloud-native civic platform built on Python


• Own end-to-end delivery of major initiatives—from design through deployment, observability, and iteration


• Guide engineering decisions on stack, system design, API design, infrastructure, and tooling


• Collaborate with product, design, and leadership to define and drive the product roadmap


• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code , and ensure best practices are upheld across the team


• Mentor and support other engineers , fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and technical excellence


• Champion a customer-first, iterative mindset grounded in rapid learning and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 1–2+ years in a technical lead or staff-level role


• Strong Python backend expertise with experience across frameworks such as Django, FastAPI, or Flask


• Demonstrated success in building and scaling greenfield applications


• Proficiency in cloud-native architectures , CI/CD, and scalable infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Terraform, etc.)


• Exceptional communication and leadership skills —able to align technical direction with product goals and influence without authority


• A builder’s mindset: You’re proactive, resourceful, and energized by autonomy and ownership


• Previous experience at a high-growth startup or in a fast-moving product environment
