The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Overview:
To oversee all aspects of the billing/ denials for the Jersey City Medical Center Medical Oncology and Infusion Departments in order to ensure accurate and timely billing.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for completing/ entering and overseeing oncology billing. This includes daily reconciliation and follow-up on departmental denials within the service line, both inpatient and outpatient.
- Responsible for overseeing EPIC work queues.
- Responsible for tracking department statistics which includes payer mix, transportation, denial data, and other financial information as needed.
- Responsible for providing physicians and office staff with insurance, CMS, and coding guidelines changes.
- Responsible for educating staff regarding gaps of knowledge with coding.
- Monitor all aspects of billing flow and resolve issues impending charges through collaboration with physicians, pharmacy, and nursing staff.
- Attend routine meetings to review any billing, work queue or denial concerns.
- Complete routine billing audits.
- Provide support to other ongoing departmental initiatives.
- Review authorizations and scheduling completeness.
- Support with charity care enrollment and assist with communicating instructions to the patient.
- Interact with other disciplines, departments, agencies and insurance companies in a professional manner.
- Maintain professional relationships will all co-workers.
- Follow HIPAA Compliance at all times.
- Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops, and serving on special committees.
- Promote a positive and healthy workplace environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School/ Vocational High School Graduate or possession of an approved High School Equivalency Certificate required.
Bachelor Degree Preferred
Minimum of two years supervisory experience in medical office setting
Thorough knowledge of medical terminology such as ICD10 and CPT code
Thorough knowledge of modern office methods, practices and equipment and ability to perform confidential and complex clerical tasks
Proficient in Microsoft Suite
Experience with EPIC preferred
