Project Engineer / Technical Project Specialist (Cabinetry & Construction)

Location: Wayne, NJ — In-Office
Salary: $80,000–$120,000

Overview

We are seeking a Project Engineer / Technical Project Specialist to support projects from award through installation. This role ensures accuracy, smooth coordination, and seamless communication between Estimating, Drafting, Project Management, Factory teams, Vendors, and Clients.

The ideal candidate is detail-driven, technically strong , and comfortable managing drawings, approvals, documentation, and production workflows in a fast-moving cabinetry or construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project kickoff meetings and review scope, handoff documents, drawings, and timelines
• Manage and track all submittals, shop drawings, samples, redlines, and approvals
• Release precise factory orders only after full approval is secured
• Monitor budgets, track cost exposure, and process change orders with proper authorization
• Oversee punch list items, ensuring timely ordering, resolution, and project closeout
• Support Project Managers and coordinate with drafting teams to keep schedules on track
• Maintain constant communication with internal departments and external clients
• Anticipate issues early, resolve conflicts, and keep deliverables aligned with project scope
• Maintain organized documentation, logs, and status reports across all assigned projects

Qualifications

• Architectural background or Civil Engineering degree is a strong plus
• Experience in cabinetry, millwork, construction, or manufacturing project coordination
• Strong understanding of shop drawings, submittals, redlines, and technical documentation
• Proficiency in Excel and project-management tools (Odoo experience preferred)
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication, follow-through, and ability to work cross-functionally
• Ability to identify issues early and drive solutions through to completion
