Overview

Are you ready to lead and shape a groundbreaking initiative in the insurance industry? Gallagher is seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to spearhead the development of a health and fitness insurance program. This is a unique opportunity to build a program from the ground up, combining underwriting expertise, strategic leadership, and industry relationships to create a significant business segment.

In this role, you’ll oversee risk selection, pricing, underwriting operations, manage referrals, and collaborate with carrier partners, who have delegated their underwriting authority to RPS Programs to ensure compliance and success. You’ll also play a pivotal role in designing processes, sourcing distribution, and supporting producers to achieve ambitious program goals.

How you'll make an impact

As the Underwriting Manager, you’ll take charge of launching, managing, and growing a health and fitness insurance program. As a steward of our capital carrier partners, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Leading underwriting decisions, ensuring profitability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with carrier partners and industry stakeholders.
  • Designing and implementing processes to streamline operations and drive growth.
  • Supporting producers by sourcing distribution and managing referrals.
  • Strategically planning for the program’s expansion, including hiring and developing a team of underwriters.

About You

  • A bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of underwriting, regulatory compliance, and industry standards.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex problems with ingenuity and strategic thinking.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Technological proficiency, including experience with Excel, Word, and network systems, to facilitate decision-making and automation.
  • A self-directed approach with excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
Compensation and benefits

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
