Dishwasher

Job Summary:

The Dishwasher performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food services, facilities, and equipment. Maintains dishes, pots, pans, trays, kitchen, work areas, equipment and utensils in orderly and sanitary condition.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Follows the posted work schedule and arrives on time and in appropriate work attire.
• Responsible for the proper washing of china, flatware, glassware and other kitchen equipment including machine rinse pressure and water temperature.
• Responsible for maintaining the kitchen and other assigned area in a sanitary manner.
• Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers and residents.
• Must be familiar with food handling procedures and regulations.
• Must know how to operate kitchen appliances such as the dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker and ice machine.
• May be required to help with food preparation, inventory, maintenance as well food deliveries and shelve stock.
• Scrapes and rinses food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine depending on assigned equipment. Ensures complete cleanliness and sanitation.
• Washes pots, pans and trays based on assigned procedures. Ensure complete cleanliness and sanitation.
• Polishes silver using burnishing machine tumbler, chemical dip, buffing wheel and hand cloth depending on assigned equipment and procedures. Ensures complete cleanliness and sanitation.
• Ensures compliance with outlined safety procedures.
• Maintains temperatures and chemical levels as outlined by provided standards.
• Keeps dish area orderly and in compliance with safety standards.
• Sweeps and mops kitchen floors to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
• Washes worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks and other food prep surfaces.
• Removes trash and places it in designated containers. Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans.
• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
• Helps load and unload supplies and product.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Operating a dish machine to wash dishes, glasses, cups, trays, silverware and food service equipment.
• Setting up and cleaning the dish machine area; checking temperatures and soap dispensing levels.
• Preparing food meals.
• Assisting in maintaining preparation and service areas in a sanitary condition.
• Emptying garbage and moving trash to dump site.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Obtain and hold any local or state required food handling/supervision/sanitation licenses and/or certifications.
• Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Must enjoy working with the senior population.

Education and Experience:

• Kitchen experience is required, preferably in a dishwashing or utility role.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous restaurant experience preferred.
