Facilities Assistant I

The Facilities Assistant I provides services related to maintaining and repair for several Covenant House properties.

Responsibilities:

• Handles routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and physical plant of several Covenant House NJ properties.
• Serves as part of the Facilities team responsible for maintaining all agency buildings, equipment and inventory.
• Completes maintenance requests via MaintainX ticketing system. Daily use required.
• Assists with trash and snow removal.
• Assists with inventory control and accountability of all equipment and supplies throughout multiple sites.
• Operation of powered and non-powered tools.
• Maintains inventory count of supplies and equipment.
• Assists in handling the shipping and receiving of purchased items.
• Safely and properly handles all agency property including tools and equipment.
• Knowledgeable in OSHA safety standards.
• Handles minor vehicle maintenance including weekly review of each vehicle as by the established maintenance checklist.
• Transports agency vehicles for repair, service and cleaning.
• Required to check emails daily.
• Assists with fundraising event set ups, delivery and disassembling. Event assistance may be conducted outside normal work hours.
• This position is considered essential and will require you to work when there is an emergency even if it’s your day off. An example of an emergency would be a snowstorm.
• May be required to work occasional weekends or holidays.
• All other duties assigned by management staff.

Experience and Skills:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record for travel with company vehicles throughout Northern New Jersey.
• 1-2 years of mid-level electrical or plumbing repairs experience.
• Advanced level of technical aptitude.
• Ability to perform physical tasks related to the position including lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required.
