Established Construction Company is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their team. In this position, you will report directly to the CFO and work closely with field and operations management. If you are an experienced payroll professional with union experience and are seeking a new role, we would love to speak with you!
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly/bi-monthly payroll for union and non-union employees, including field and office staff.
- Review and verify time sheets, job coding, and cost allocations for accuracy.
- Administer payroll and prepare reports in compliance with prevailing wage, union, local, state and federal guidelines.
- Prepare and submit union reports
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including new hires, terminations, wage changes, and garnishments.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and union reporting.
- Coordinate with CFO and field supervisors on employee status changes, hours worked, and project assignments.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
- Assist with year-end processing, including W-2s and other payroll-related tax filings.
- Stay current on payroll laws, union contract changes, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry with union payroll.
- Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, prevailing wage, and certified payroll reporting.
- Proficiency in payroll systems - Sage, or similar construction payroll software preferred
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws. NJ/NY a plus
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
