Physician Assistant /Advanced Practice Provider - Interventional Pain Medicine

This is a Monday-Friday position with no call, weekends, or holidays.

The Advanced Practice Provider ( Physician Assistant or Nurse Practictioner) will split time between the inpatient hospital rounds and outpatient clinic.

Inpatient rounding and consults are at Centrastate Medical Center. This may include rounding on postoperative/perioperative patients, cancer patients, as well as acute and chronic pain patients, with the opportunity for surgical first assist in minimally invasive spine surgeries. Outpatient clinic hours will consist of patient follow up s for image reviews, procedures, and therapy evaluations.

Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute (AOSMI) is multidisciplinary outpatient orthopedic and pain management practice. Currently the practice is composed of 9 orthopedic surgeons, 3 interventional pain medicine physicians, 2 podiatrist, and 7 advanced practice providers. Our various physicians and advanced practice providers work side by side to provide comprehensive musculoskeletal and spine care to our patients. The flagship office is located in Freehold, NJ however we also have satellite offices in Monroe and Belmar, NJ. Our providers are an integral part of the medical staff at CentraState Medical Center: Atlantic Health System Partner.
The Interventional Pain Medicine division of AOSMI strives to provide curative and minimally invasive treatment options for patients. While we do prescribe medications when clinically indicated, our practice does not heavily prescribe high-dose opioids. Treatment plans typically involve physical therapy for functional goals in conjunction with injections and minimally invasive surgeries. The providers are young, energetic, hardworking, and on top of the latest cutting-edge treatment options (minimally invasive spine surgeries, regenerative medicine, neuromodulation, etc).

Responsibilities
1. Evaluates inpatient consults and rounds on hospital patients as requested by the group s interventional pain medicine physicians. Staffs outpatient clinic patients.
2. Independently assess patients and orders appropriate labs/radiology tests/consults/injections/surgeries
3. Performs history & physicals, writes pre and post operative orders for physician.
4. Prescribe medications according to New Jersey State law, including controlled substances with DEA authorization.
5. Works collaboratively with the attending physician & APP team to maintain timely and appropriate communication.
6. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team including the attending physician to develop and implement the therapeutic plan of care for requesting attending surgeons.
7. Assists in surgical cases as needed.
8. Possess excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
9. Promotes own professional growth and development in clinical role.

Requirements
US Citizen
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey as a Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey as a Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner
Physician Assistant (PA-C) certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) OR Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program,
Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration
