Class B Diesel Mechanic

Overview

The Class B Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance inspections, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing major components on vehicles and equipment. Class B Diesel Mechanic works as a member of the Maintenance & Equipment team and reports to the Maintenance & Equipment Manager.

Essential Functions

· Inspect, diagnose and repair assigned vehicles and equipment

· Perform preventative maintenance inspections and ensure the timely and effective repair of any identified problems

· Assist, guide and direct other Maintenance & Equipment personnel

· Utilize vehicle computer electronics to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign necessary repairs

· Estimate time and material cost for repairs and requisition of new parts

· Effectively communicate equipment status and repair progress to Maintenance & Equipment team and respective departments as needed

· Perform service calls for emergency machine deficiencies

· Conduct daily inspections and safety checks on vehicles

· Assist Maintenance & Equipment Manager and other Maintenance & Equipment personnel as needed

· Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other safety standards

· Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures

Qualifications

· Minimum 4 years of mechanic experience

· Strong technical and computer skills, including maintenance software programs

· Skill in operating tools needed to complete necessary repairs

· Ability to diagnose defects and repair various heavy machinery

· Ability to lift and move over 25 pounds

· May require ability stand for extended periods of time

· Perform job related tasks requiring dexterity

· Legally eligible to work in the US

· Valid driver license
