Job Information New Jersey American Water is seeking a full-time Planning & Scheduling Specialist to join our team in Plainfield, NJ. The ideal candidate will be organized, self-motivated, and thrive in a fast-pace, diverse environment. In this role, you will support Transmission & Distribution (T&D) personnel with delegating day-to-day assignments, scheduling, managing work orders, and coordinating with vendors. Experience working in the utility and/or construction field is a plus! Pay Range: $61,060-$102,030/annually The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. - Plan, schedule, and manage all scheduled and un-scheduled Transmission & Distribution (T&D) field activities.
- Ensure programmed work activities are scheduled and performed in accordance with customer, regulatory, and financial requirements.
- Support T&D field supervisors in ensuring crew assignments are supported with inventory, permits, traffic control and other dependencies necessary to ensure successful completion of assignments.
- Supervise the implementation of standards, targets, policies, and plans to ensure the continuing and increasing operational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability.
- Ensure that operational integrity (quality, environment, reliability, health, safety, security, etc.) is maintained.
- Implement effective reporting processes. Provide analysis and support with information required for various reports, budgets, and business plans.
- Implement and foster the coaching and development of employees, including idea generation, within respective functional areas.
- Ensure effective people management policies and practices are developed and implemented (e.g., time and attendance, workforce management, etc.) and ensure resources are developed and deployed appropriately.
- Continue to reinforce the importance of developing a diverse workforce.
- Support the Business Development function in the operational analysis pricing and integration of water and wastewater business opportunities in both the regulated and non-regulated markets.
- Work collaboratively with other functional leads to mitigate business risks.
- Implement effective communications at all levels of our operations.
- Provide effective leadership that will enhance our abilities to be flexible to changing business environments.
- Contribute to effective communication by listening and providing constructive feedback; supporting the creation of an open and honest work environment; cascading and sharing knowledge and information relevant to other members of the team and colleagues across the businesExperience/Education
- 3-5 year experience within Transmission & Distribution or Field Services operational areas with proven past experience of meeting performance targets.
- 2 year or 4 year degree in operational discipline, management, or related technical discipline or equivalentKnowledge/Skills
- High level understanding of Transmission & Distribution (Construction) workflow process
- Knowledge of company and regulatory procedures related to Health and Safety, environmental, and customer satisfaction requirements
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures and management theories, practices, and trends
- Expert knowledge in the use of MapCall, Excel, MyTime, MyPurchasing, SAP, and word processing systemsWork Schedule
