Anaplan Model Builder - Associate
Job Description
Overview
Are you a hands-on builder who enjoys turning business requirements into clear, reliable solutions? Join our Planning & Analysis (P&A) Innovation and Transformation team to develop user-friendly models on the Anaplan platform. You’ll learn from experienced model builders and architects, contribute to end-to-end delivery, and help create scalable solutions that support close, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Job responsibilities
- Support end-to-end model delivery: translate user stories into modules, lists, line items, and UX pages, and help configure actions, imports/exports, and basic automations.
- Build high-quality models: follow platform best practices for sparsity, dimensionality, and performance; contribute to versioning, testing, and documentation.
- Create user-centric experiences: help design intuitive UX pages, conduct demos, capture feedback, and iterate to improve usability and adoption.
- Partner across teams: collaborate with P&A stakeholders, data product teams, technology, and risk/compliance partners to ensure accurate, controlled data flows.
- Assist with integrations: set up and troubleshoot data imports, mappings, and basic transformation logic; escalate complex integration issues to senior team members.
- Contribute to Agile delivery: participate in backlog grooming, write/clarify user stories and acceptance criteria, and deliver increments in sprints.
- Uphold controls and quality: adhere to firmwide SDLC, access controls, peer reviews, and change management processes; maintain clear model and process documentation.
- Continuous learning: actively pursue platform certifications, learn adjacent tools and data concepts, and contribute ideas that improve model reliability and team efficiency.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 0–2 years of experience building or maintaining Enterprise Performance Management systems such as Anaplan, Oracle Planning, Pigment, Workday Adaptive Planning, IBM Planning Analytics, or similar tools
- Basic proficiency with core Anaplan concepts (lists, modules, line items, hierarchies, formulas, time versions, UX pages, actions/imports) and an understanding of model performance fundamentals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to translate functional requirements into structured model designs with guidance.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare simple demos and documentation using MS Office and present to peers and business partners.
- Team-oriented, proactive, and organized; comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment and within Agile teams (Scrum/Kanban).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Exposure to the P&A function (close, budgets, forecasts) and familiarity with financial planning concepts.
- Experience with data and analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Alteryx, Databricks) or ETL/scheduling tools; understanding of data quality and reconciliation basics.
- Experience with Anaplan integrations (APIs, connectors) at a foundational level, or willingness to learn.
- Anaplan Level 2 Model Builder certification; progress toward Level 3 is advantageous.
What you’ll gain
- Training and mentorship from experienced Model Builders and Solution Architects.
- Opportunities to own discrete model components and UX pages, deepen platform skills, and learn enterprise delivery practices.
- A culture grounded in innovation, learning, and continuous improvement—where user impact and strong controls both matter.
If you’re eager to build reliable, user-friendly Anaplan solutions and grow your skills in a collaborative, agile environment, we’d love to hear from you.
