This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Assistant or Paralegal with a background in New Jersey criminal law who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and thrives on organization, accuracy, and teamwork.
Position Summary
The Legal Assistant/Paralegal will provide comprehensive support to attorneys handling criminal defense matters from case intake through resolution. This individual will manage case files, prepare legal documents, coordinate with clients and courts, and ensure all deadlines and filings are completed accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Support attorneys with criminal defense case preparation and management.
- Draft, prepare, and organize legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Maintain case files and confidential client records.
- Coordinate with clients, courts, prosecutors, and other legal professionals.
- Track court dates, filing deadlines, and case activity.
- Assist with legal research and document management.
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Provide administrative and legal support to ensure efficient daily operations.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal supporting New Jersey criminal law matters.
- Knowledge of New Jersey criminal court procedures and legal documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and standard legal office technology.
- Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday in Livingston, NJ.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Previous experience in a criminal defense law firm.
- Familiarity with New Jersey court filing procedures and case management systems.
