Event Captain
For nearly twenty years, EventfullNYC has been one of New York's most trusted catering names, with a five-star reputation earned across hundreds of weddings, galas, and social events, built on three things: food, service, and elegance. We are seeking a poised, and detail-driven Event Captain to execute each event to the client & event managers vision, coordinate on-site staffing and rentals, and communicate across our internal teams so nothing falls through.
The Event Captain at EventfullNYC runs the floor and owns the guest experience. We take great pride in our food and service, and you are the one who puts that together. Your leadership, professionalism, and attention to detail directly impact client satisfaction, team morale, and the overall success of each event.
Pre-Event Preparation

- Confirm staffing needs and assign staff roles and responsibilities
On-Site Event Management
- Lead the pre-shift meeting: timeline, service style, dietary flags, VIPs, service standards, and uniform check
- Train, coach, and develop new servers, bartenders, and support staff
- Lead and supervise event staff during the event, reassign staff as needed to exceed service standards
- Manage setup, service flow, and breakdown, and hold the timeline
- Coordinate with the kitchen so food goes out on time, at proper temperature, and to standard, with stations kept full and clean
- Coordinate with vendors and keep the guest experience seamless throughout the event
Client & Guest Experience
- Ensure service style and presentation exceed company standards
- Respond to guest needs professionally and efficiently
- Maintain a positive, polished presence throughout the event
Post-Event Responsibilities
- Oversee breakdown and load-out, and confirm venue policies are followed
- Count and organize rentals and catering equipment, noting anything missing, damaged, or broken
- Confirm proper staff clock-in and clock-out
- Complete post-event reports and communicate feedback or issues to leadership
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years in catering, events, and hospitality
- 3+ years in wedding and large-scale event management
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in fast-paced environments
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Knowledge of catering service styles
- Experience working with event rentals and venues
- Familiarity with timelines, BEOs, and floor plans
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs when needed
- Flexible schedule based on event needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays at events throughout the NYC area.
- Available for client walkthroughs as needed and quarterly team meetings at EventfullNYC HQ.
