Outside Sales Representative
Metro Valve & Actuation, a second-generation company founded in 2001, specializing in high-quality valve and actuation products and services, seeks an Outside Sales Representative. We are looking for a relationship-driven self-starter who likes to build long-term relationships with customers and be proactive by upselling products. This will be a pivotal role as it is instrumental in acquiring new business to help the organization grow. This position will ensure that by working directly with engineers, contractors, and our purchasing departments, customers will have a smooth and seamless experience from the beginning to the end of the sales process.
- Be the “go-to” person for your customers’ product knowledge and needs.
- Conduct outside sales activities to promote company products and services, build client relationships, and identify new business opportunities
- Track and manage all active quotes, ensuring timely follow-up with customers
- Assess needs and prepare detailed, accurate product proposals by coordinating with internal teams to support closing opportunities, including technical specifications and pricing
- Generate new leads through research, networking, site visits, and outreach to prospective customers
- Maintain strong relationships with customers by providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring a high level of service and satisfaction
- Follow up on proposals and sales leads
- Coordinate with various internal employees and departments to determine appropriate pricing markups, align on delivery schedules, and identify products
- Process customer orders accurately and manage documentation
- Organize and lead Lunch & Learn sessions
- Conduct engineering calls to consult on specifications, project needs, product sustainability, and more
- Collaborate with other sales team members to review project specifications, ensure accurate product selection, and support quote preparation and technical documentation
- Coordinate with suppliers to confirm pricing, lead times, and availability
- Relay all necessary costs and pricing information to inside sales colleagues to support accurate quote generation and order processing
- Communicate regularly with customers to inform about new product offerings or potential solutions, ensuring smooth transactions
- Manage sales related to actuator or product repairs, including quotes, customer communication, and coordination with the Service or Warehouse teams as needed
- Communicate delivery requirements with inside sales colleagues to ensure accurate order fulfillment and customer satisfaction
- Offer support on installation, warranty, and logistics
- Maintain relationships through effective and timely follow-up
- Address issues professionally and proactively
Necessary Skills, Education & Abilities
-Outside sales experience, preferably in HVAC or technical/industrial sales
-Proven long-term client/customer relationship experience
-Relentless attention to detail, also very organized and proactive
-Ability to be a self-starter, also self-sufficient, responsive, and technically minded (mechanical/technical aptitude)
-Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-A great communicator who will represent the company to vendors and customers and communicate well with internal staff
-Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, QuickBooks (or willing to learn)
