Human Resources Intern (Summer 2026) - NJ

The Company:
Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (OPT) provides intelligent maritime solutions and services that enable safer, cleaner, and more productive ocean operations for the defense and security, oil and gas, science and research, and offshore wind markets, including Merrows™, which provides AI-capable seamless integration of Maritime Domain Awareness Systems across platforms. Our PowerBuoy® platforms provide clean and reliable electric power and real-time data communications for remote maritime and subsea applications. We also provide WAM-V® unmanned surface vehicles (USV’s) and marine robotics services. The Company’s headquarters is located in Monroe Township, New Jersey with an additional office in Richmond, California.

The Role:

The Human Resources Intern will support the HR team with a variety of administrative and project-based tasks across multiple functional areas, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, HR operations, and compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with recruitment activities, including posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communications
• Support onboarding and offboarding processes
• Help maintain HR records and databases with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
• Support HR projects such as policy updates, audits, data reporting, or process improvement initiatives
• Respond to routine HR-related inquiries and escalate issues as appropriate
• Participate in team meetings and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

• Junior or Senior status in a 4-year university pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Familiarity with HRIS systems, including applicant tracking systems.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Hourly rate is $23.00 and includes the following for eligible employees:
