We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Fairfield, New Jersey on a Contract basis. This role will oversee core accounting and finance activities, deliver accurate reporting, and provide financial insight that helps leadership make informed business decisions. The position combines strategic planning with hands-on operational support across close processes, budgeting, compliance, and team leadership.

Responsibilities:
• Direct day-to-day finance and accounting activities to ensure dependable reporting and timely visibility into business performance.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing cycles, ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and prepared on schedule.
• Oversee invoicing, payroll coordination, and revenue-related processes to support compliance and efficient operations.
• Build budgets, projections, and financial models that support planning efforts and identify opportunities to improve results.
• Review internal controls and accounting procedures, recommending improvements that reduce risk and strengthen operational effectiveness.
• Drive process enhancements, including automation and workflow optimization, to improve efficiency and manage costs.
• Mentor and manage accounting and operations staff, encouraging accountability, collaboration, and focused growth.
• Prepare reporting packages and custom financial analyses for leadership to support business priorities and decision-making.
• Coordinate tax-related reporting data and support external compliance requirements and financial documentation readiness.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or CMA designation is preferred.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or operational financial leadership roles.
• Strong practical knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, accounting operations, and internal control frameworks.
• Experience supporting services environments that require strong attention to detail, including timekeeping, billing, and revenue cycle activities, is preferred.
• Familiarity with NetSuite, OpenAir, or comparable financial and reporting platforms is preferred.
• Understanding of consolidated reporting, intercompany activity, payroll administration, and associated compliance obligations.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong financial systems proficiency, with the ability to use technology to improve reporting and efficiency.
• Proven leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to turn financial data into clear business recommendations.
