Interim Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Interim Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The Interim Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting general accounting operations, preparing journal entries, reconciling financial statements and accounts, and assisting in the monthly close process. This role is key to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries accurately and in a timely manner
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts
• Streamline workflow process and collaborate with team members on process efficiencies
• Generating reports for AP aging, Check runs, & Vendor management
• Independently prepare journal entries for account reconciliations.
• Posting transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (e.g. by assets, liabilities and expenses)
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Support the preparation of financial statements and reports
• Maintain and update fixed asset schedules
• Assist with audits by providing documentation and support to external auditors
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions when needed
• Prepare and file sales tax and other compliance reports
• Perform variance analysis and support budgeting/forecasting activities
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

If the assignment is extended for more than 90 days, then would become eligible for partial benefits (for example, NJ sick time).

Salary range $55k - $70k annually
