Elite Fleet Travel Yard Driver

CDL A Required | Spotter / Switcher / Hostler | True Travel Position

US 1 Shorthaul is building an Elite Fleet Travel Team made up of highly skilled CDL A yard drivers who can step into customer sites across the country and make an immediate impact.

This is not a standard local yard position.
This is not an OTR freight position.
This is a true travel role for experienced drivers who are comfortable being away from home for extended periods while supporting high-priority customer locations.

Elite Fleet drivers may be assigned to a site for several weeks to a few months at a time and will stay in hotels near the assigned location while working that site.

If you are a strong backer, a reliable operator, and someone who takes pride in being trusted for critical assignments, this may be the right fit.

What Elite Fleet Drivers Do

• Support customer sites across the U.S. based on operational need
• Perform high-volume yard moves in fast-paced environments
• Spot, switch, and hostle 48’–53’ trailers safely and efficiently
• Complete drop & hook moves only — no freight handling
• Conduct yard audits and pre/post-trip inspections
• Operate yard trucks and/or day cabs at assigned customer sites
• Step into different locations with professionalism, flexibility, and confidence
• Represent US 1 Shorthaul as part of a trusted travel support team

Travel Expectations

This is a true travel position . Drivers must be comfortable with extended hotel-based assignments.

Elite Fleet drivers should be prepared to:

• Travel to customer sites across the U.S.
• Stay in hotels near the assigned site for several weeks or potentially a few months at a time
• Work at different customer locations based on business needs
• Be away from home for extended periods
• Work different shifts, climates, and site environments
• Travel up to 80–100% of the time

Hotel accommodations are arranged while on travel assignments.

Requirements

• Valid CDL Class A
• 18 months verifiable experience
• Proven experience backing 48’–53’ trailers to dock doors
• Yard jockey, spotter, switcher, hostler, local, or OTR experience may qualify
• No preventable DOT accidents in the past 3 years
• Clean Clearinghouse and acceptable PSP
• Ability to travel for extended assignments
• Ability to work different shifts, climates, and locations
• Must pass background check and drug screening
