Summary of the Position:

The role of the Behavioral Assistant is to deliver specific, outcome-oriented interventions under the guidance of the BAISP (Behavioral Assistant Individualized Service Plan) provided by a Licensed Mental Health Clinician. The Behavioral Assistant helps the family and youth to develop and practice healthy and positive coping strategies and techniques. The intervention focuses on addressing target behaviors and improving overall emotional and behavioral regulation abilities. The Behavioral Assistant supports the youth and family in an effort to avoid more intensive levels of intervention while working in collaboration with the Child Family Team (CFT).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide behavioral interventions to children and adolescents in home and community settings.
  • Learn to create, modify, and utilize a variety of appropriate instructional materials and procedures to adjust to the child/youth’s cognitive needs.
  • Participate and collaborate with youth’s Child Family Team (CFT) which could consist of, but is not limited to, IIC, mentors, psychiatrists, teachers, care managers, DCP&P, school administration, etc.
  • Assist youth by using behavioral strategies, positive reinforcements, social stories, peer facilitation and peer training for the purpose of teaching appropriate social behaviors in accordance with students’ social and behavioral learning goals.
  • Participate in biweekly/monthly supervision to discuss therapeutic process.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children and families in an in-community setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Must be located in New Jersey with a valid NJ Driver's License.
  • Bilingual is preferred not required.
